Hurray for Park Road no longer looking like the dark side of the Moon... 👏🏼 Finally, Park Road has now been resurfaced and with this comes fresh line painting. PCSO Sam FELLOWS and Dave HANCOCK paid some attention down on Park Road before the Summer Holidays, holding street meets to hear residents thoughts on the parking issues often found here and issuing penalty charge notices to drivers who were parked dangerously/fully obstructing the pavements. PCSO Sam FELLOWS spoke to Highways to discuss safety issues and consider safety options for Park Road. Highways confirmed that after resurfacing, new restrictions would put in place on Park Road and you might have noticed this is now completed. So, what do they mean? ℹ️ Double Yellow Lines: Double yellow lines mean no parking or waiting at any time. Do Not Wait! - Even if you are waiting to pick up someone, you cannot wait on a single or double yellow line. Potential Penalties - Illegally parking on yellow lines can result in a Penalty Charge Notice and potentially your vehicle being towed away. ℹ️ Yellow Zig Zag Lines: You must not stop, wait, or park on yellow zig-zag lines outside schools because they are a safety measure to protect children by ensuring clear visibility. Zigzags can also be found at entrances and exits of hospitals, fire stations, police stations and ambulance stations. They indicate the part of the road where motorists should not wait, stop, or park a vehicle. Both yellow and white zigzags also show areas that must be kept clear so that children and other road users can see clearly when crossing the road. ❗Safety tips for parking outside schools: When picking up or dropping off children at schools, you should do the following: ⌚ Allow yourself plenty of time as the area is likely to be busy. 🚫 Do not park on yellow zigzag lines and avoid parking opposite them. 🧠 If you decide to park further away, please be considerate of local residents and avoid blocking driveways or accessways. 🔺 You may have also noticed the red triangles painted on the road. What do these mean!?...... A triangular road sign featuring two children walking hand-in-hand signifies that children are likely to be present on or near the road, warning motorists to drive slowly and with extra caution. ❗Slow down. ❗ Be observant. ❗Be patient. We hope you're as happy as we are for the new road restrictions and lets all work together to help keep our local children safe - it's THEIR school, their environment. #SaferStreetsDerbyshire #NeighbourhoodsPolicing
